HPSD Studio Companies
About Our Studio Company Program
HPSD’s Studio Company is a specialized program with an emphasis on performance.
Company members attend special company classes and repertoire rehearsals, committing to a year-long calendar of public performances around the city, as well as to the rigorous training schedules that will allow them to do so at an elite pre-professional level. Auditions are in May.
Accepted dancers join one of the following companies based on age, experience, and focus:

Studio Company Trainee Program
An introduction to company structure and expectations, with training in both ballet and modern. -
Ballet Intermediate & Ballet Advanced
Intermediate students build ballet technique and artistry; advanced dancers train in pointe, variations, and partnering. -
Contemporary Intermediate & Contemporary Advanced
Intermediate students receive foundational training in contemporary, modern, and jazz; advanced expands on the fundamentals, building fluid cross-genre movement.
Taking part in these programs requires a strong personal dedication to dance and an equally strong commitment to working in harmony within a corps of dancers.
Whether or not they intend to pursue a professional dance career, participation in HPSD’s Studio Company program builds confidence, fosters poise and creativity, and strengthens teamwork, time management, and physical and mental resilience.

| Repertoire Work: Dancers will focus on ballet repertoire including pointe work. Other repertoire in non-ballet techniques will be taught as part of the program. *Pointe training is part of the Advanced Ballet Studio Company Training. Dancers placed in the Advanced Ballet Track who do not dance en pointe may be asked to dance with Advanced Contemporary when we set Company Repertoire. This will be a hybrid situation based on the choreography chosen for repertoire in the 2025-26 season. |

| Repertoire Work: Dancers will focus on Contemporary repertoire which could be a blend of many dance genres. Ballet repertoire will be taught as part of the program. | |
Optional Classes: Students from all companies are welcome to take additional classes in any genre that fits their schedule. Please note, students in our Intermediate and Advanced Contemporary Companies who want to take pointe, MUST take a third ballet class as well as their pointe class.

Hyde Park School of Dance invites you to audition for all levels of HPSD Studio Companies for the 2026-27 season Auditions
Dancers who meet BOTH the age and training requirements below are invited to audition for HPSD Studio Companies:
- Age requirement: rising 6th graders (will be in 6th grade Fall 2026) to rising 12th graders (will be HS Seniors Fall 2026). Dancers from other schools may audition for the company if they are between the ages of 14 – 18.
- Training requirement: at least 2 full years of dance training in any style at HPSD or another dance school (ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, African, tap, etc.).
