Linda Spriggs- Pilates

 

Linda Spriggs   exudes warmth, compassion, enthusiasm, and a passion for helping others to create positive change!  Linda brings a wealth of experience and knowledge about working with all body types, fitness levels and physical conditions to her style of Pilates training.  Her penultimate goal is to stimulate personal growth and serve as a positive influence in the lives of her colleagues, students and clients. 


Ms. Spriggs apprenticed and was certified in the Classical Pilates Method of Body Conditioning under the tutelage of her mentor, first generation protégé of Joseph H. Pilates, Romana Krysanovska.  Since 1996 Linda has garnered a plethora of  influential Pilates training through study with master instructors Bob Leikens, Susan Moran Sheehy, Juanita Lopez, Ceci Fano and a host of others.
 

Ms. Spriggs enjoyed an extensive career as Principle Dancer with the world renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, as well as with the Joyce Trisler Dance Company, the Pearl Primus Earth Theatre, the Kazuko Hirabayashi Dance Theater, and the Atlanta Ballet to name a few.  Via her vast experience as a professional choreographer, director, teacher and coach, she brings more that 40 years experience teaching bodies to move with panache, precision, quality and grace.

 

Linda’s experience as an artist, educator and mentor includes Assistant Professor of Dance at The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (1987-95), affiliation with numerous companies and institutions including The Juilliard School (NYC), Montclair State University (NJ), Barat College (Lake Forest, IL), Columbia College (Chicago), Hyde Park School of Ballet (Chicago), the Joel Hall Dance Center (Chicago).  Linda is proud to be co-founder of Deeply Rooted Productions (Chicago) and founding Director of Ailey Camp Chicago.

 

Ms. Spriggs earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from The Juilliard School (NYC), and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). 


A member of the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) and a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT), Linda currently mentors both novice and experienced teachers as a Teacher Trainer with Power Pilates, NYC (2003-2013) and currently with the Classical Pilates Formula Training Program at FFC.

 

Linda looks forward to creating value and sharing her passion for helping others as she rejoins the faculty of Hyde Park School of Dance this fall.
