COVID-19 & Contagious Disease Policies

Hyde Park School of Dance is committed to the health and safety of all our dancers, faculty, staff, and their families.  As of July 2024, the guidance below refers more generally to preventing spread of contagions in the studios, including COVID-19

To prevent the spread of disease at the studios, HPSD recommends:

  • Staying up to date with vaccination: HPSD encourages keeping your dancer up to date on all vaccines for communicable diseases.
  • Practicing good hygiene: Covering coughs and sneezes and washing or sanitizing hands often. HPSD has cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer around the studios.
  • Self-Monitoring: Dancers experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness are advised to test and treat said illness before attending classes, rehearsals, or performances.
  • Masking to personal preference: Dancers can choose to wear a mask while attending HPSD programming. Families should determine their own masking preferences.
  • Exception to masking preferences: If any dancer has tested positive for COVID in the 5 days prior to attending HPSD programming or is experiencing symptoms of any contagious respiratory illness, they are required to mask. Dancers may still attend or participate in programming as long as symptoms are improving for at least 24 hours and any fever has subsided for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
  • To notify HPSD of any illness-related absences for classes, rehearsals or performances, please email admin@hydeparkdance.org.

Guidance is subject to change.

Transitioning to Virtual Learning

HPSD will transition to virtual classes under the following circumstances:

  • Shelter-in-place Order or local mandates: If a federal, state, county, or city governing body imposes a shelter-in-place order or other regulations that would make it impossible to continue studio group classes, all HPSD classes will transition to virtual learning. THIS DOES NOT CONSTITUTE CLASS CANCELLATION.

Thank you for helping to keep our HPSD community safe and healthy!
