COVID-19 Studio Guidelines

Hyde Park School of Dance is excited to welcome our students back into the studios. We are committed to the safety of all dancers, faculty and staff. Although Phase 4 in Illinois began on Friday, June 26, HPSD will continue to operate in Phase 3  in regards to class max and social distancing. Though it is not possible to eliminate the spread of COVID-19, this page will outline in greater detail the safety measures we are putting in place to help reduce the spread.

Studio Participation General Expectations

  • Students, faculty, and staff with medical conditions that place them in a higher risk category for COVID-19 infection, or who come into frequent contact with someone in a higher risk category are strongly urged to continue participation virtually rather than in the studio for the time being.

  • Students, faculty, and staff should only come to the studios if they have no COVID-19 symptoms and have not had close or sustained contact with a sick person within 14 days.

  • If a student, faculty, or staff member has had COVID-19, they will need to provide written clearance from a doctor in order to return to the studio.

  • Students and their families, faculty, and staff entering the studio facilities are expected to submit to the various screenings/questionnaires/temperature checks we require in order to be on the premises and adhere to all safety precautions.

  • All studio registrants will receive the virtual link for their class in case they are unable to attend classes due to health screening restrictions.

  • Only students on the daily roster, faculty and staff scheduled to work for the day, and student family that are scheduled for volunteer duties, have made an office appointment, or special arrangements to escort their child into the building will be allowed entry to our facilities on a given day.

  • Students, faculty, staff, and family volunteers are expected to perform assigned daily and weekly cleaning duties to keep our spaces clean and sanitized.

  • In-studio class capacities are capped at 8-9 students per class and studio barres and floors are tape marked to provide at least 6 feet of barre and center distancing between students, teachers, accompanists, and teaching assistants in the studios.

  • Signage will be provided for entry/exits and social distancing requirements in common areas.

  • Be aware of COVID-19 symptoms and check the CDC website for updates:

  • Please take a look at the updates to our waiver before registering.
