2020 Spring Production of Amira Postponed Indefinitely

UPDATE AS OF APRIL 1, 2020

In light of the unfolding public health crisis, it is with a heavy heart that HPSD has decided to postpone our Spring 2020 production of Amira: A Chicago Cinderella Story indefinitely. We are so proud of our cast for the hard work they have put into their roles, our teachers for their tireless dedication in setting the choreography and running rehearsals, and our incredible wardrobe department for improving upon their gorgeous costumes. We have no doubt that this team and our stellar family volunteers would have put on a show to rival and exceed the original. However, we are hopeful that circumstances will permit us to perform some excerpts from Amira during our Summer Intensive Showcase on August 9th.

If you have purchased your ticket online through Brown Paper Tickets, you will receive an email from them in regards to your options or you can contact them 24/7 at support@brownpapertickets.com or 800-838-3006 to receive a refund. If you purchased your tickets through the office, you can email us at admin@hydeparkdance.org to convert your ticket purchase to a donation or receive a refund.

We hope to provide you with updates about excepts from Amira in the coming months!

In response to the University of Chicago's announcement to postpone large group events (https://coronavirusupdates.uchicago.edu/), the production of Amira: A Chicago Cinderella Story will be postponed with the expectation that it will be rescheduled later this spring. Amira rehearsals and regular classes, including Saturday, March 28, will continue as scheduled (the exception being the tech and dress rehearsals at Mandel Hall on March 25-27, which are cancelled until further notice). As a reminder, our continuing rule of thumb is to keep dancers at home that may not be feeling well, out of respect for fellow dancers, teachers and other individuals in the buildings that house our studios.
