New Studio B Open House

Drop-in on Friday, September 10th between 4:30 and 6:00 PM to help us celebrate as we unveil our new dance studio! Meet our new executive director, mingle with Hyde Park School of Dance staff, faculty and supporters, and enjoy live performances by the HPSD youth company Tyego Next Generation! HPSD Announces New Executive Director Mariam Thiam

HPSD is happy to announce the appointment of Mariam Thiam as our new Executive Director! Mariam succeeds Ann Billingsley, who had served as Executive Director since 2005. We thank Ann for her wonderful work and wish her all the best! Read the full press release here.

Pointe Shoe Exam

Students in Ballet IV and up who wish to be evaluated for pointe work should plan to attend the Pointe Shoe exam on September 7th, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in Studio 1. The exam consists of a physical test from 6 - 7 PM, which parents are encouraged to observe, and a ballet terminology test from 7 - 8 PM. Additional details can be found on our Guidelines for Going En Pointe page.

Teacher Trainee and Teacher Assistant Opportunities

Interviews for students in Ballet IV and up interested in participating in our Teacher Trainee program will take place on September 10th from 6:30 - 7:45 PM. Students who are at least 10 years old, but too young to apply for the Teacher Trainee program may volunteer to help as Teacher's Assistants. Please contact for additional details on these programs.

New Fall Classes

Please check out our Fall 2010 schedule of classes on this website. In addition to all of the classes you have come to love, we are excited to announce the addition of some terrific new classes:

Boys Class.  A ballet class just for boys!  Designed for the young dancer, this class is open to boys age 5 to 7 years old.

Yoga.  Our new Hatha Yoga morning class is a great way to start your work day. Taught by Janée Powell, it will meet every Wednesday morning at 7:30 am. And back by popular demand is our Kundalini Yoga class, taught by Sarah Ford. A great way to unwind after work, this class will meet every Wednesday evening at 7:15 pm.

First Steps. Get creative with your toddler in this morning class where you and your little one will explore moving to music and rhythms.  For parents with toddlers age 18 – 36 months old.

Fall Session Registration

Session I classes will begin on September 11, 2010 and advance registration is highly recommended. Currently enrolled students in good standing may pre-register for classes before they are opened up to new students. The pre-registration period is July 21 - 31. Registration opens to new students on August 1. Registration forms can be found here.
